We have a group of outstanding speakers lined up to retrospect their study and research at UCLA, share their experiences and anecdotes of their job hunting, career development and provide you with insightful information. SPEAKERS (in alphabetical order):
DONG, BIN - SEW Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, UCSD
Bin will obtain his Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics and graduate from UCLA in 2009. In addition to his academic excellence, Bin served in the CSSA-UCLA Executive Committee as vice president of the Outdoor Department from 2005 to 2007.
HU, CHUNLONG (DANIEL) - MBA, UCLA Anderson School of Management
Once a Team lead and Senior Engineer at ASML Inc., Chunlong graduated from Drexel University with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
LI, ZHE - MBA, UCLA Anderson School of Management
With eight years of working experience, Zhe has worked in different positions (such as VP and MD) as well as in different areas (such as venture capital, private equity and pharmaceutical industry). He also served as a senior executive in a public traded pharmaceutical company in China.
LIU, ZHENYU - Software Engineer, Google Inc.
Zhenyu graduated from UCLA in 2005, with a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science. He is currently a tech lead for one of Google's ads-serving projects, a project that serves ads to millions of parked domains. His current area of focus is Internet advertising. Prior to the current position, he was a developer in Google's PicasaWeb project.
PEI, LIMING - Postdoctoral Fellow, Salk Institute for Biological Studies and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute
With the prestigious George J Popjak Scholar Award and Sarkaria Award for his outstanding research, Liming graduated from UCLA in 2006, with a Ph.D. degree from Molecular and Cellular Pathology.
QUAN, ZHI - Senior Systems Engineer, Qualcomm Research Center, Qualcomm Inc.
Zhi will graduate with a Ph.D. degree from UCLA Electrical Engineering in 2009 and join Qualcomm Inc., a global leading wireless telecommunications research and development company.
RONG, WEIZHI - Consultant, CGI Group Inc.
Weizhi graduated from UCLA in 2006, with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. His main consulting experiences include spending management for multiple clients, conducting expenditure analysis, assessing saving opportunities and developing sourcing strategies. In his current project, he works in conjunction with a technical team to provide IT consulting services to a public sector client.
YU, FUQU - Postdoctoral Fellow in Drug Discovery, Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development LLC.
Fuqu graduated from UCLA in 2007, with a Ph.D. in Molecular and Medical Pharmacology. She also served as CSSA-UCLA President in 2004.
The panel is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 6:00 - 9:00 pm. All CSSA-UCLA members are invited to participate in this open discussion!
