标题: [newfarmer_cn_07] Seeking partner(s), drive to Alaska
作者: Zepu Zhang
SORRY for the spam to the uninterested!
I'm looking for 1-2 male partners to drive to Alaska in late July, setting out around 7/31. I have not fixed the schedule or route yet. We'll decide those together, taking into account cost, time, interest, etc.
Drive in one car. Fly back from Fairbanks (or Anchorage). The whole trip will take 10-15 days. I've bought a travel book (The Milepost 2009) that lists literally mile by mile points of interest, gas stations, eating, lodging, caution, everything, in British Columbia, Yukon, and Alaska. I'm researching route possibilities.
Main points of call:
Calif --> Seattle (possible stops on the way), Vancouver, bear east to Canadian Rocky Mountains (2 national parks), drive back to Pacific coast, board ferry (both people and car) on Prince Rupert, south east Alaska ("Inside Passage") on/off ship ("Alaska Marine Highway", meaning the ferry system), massive glaciers, wildlife (and sea food), hop ashore, drive to Fairbanks.
Alternative: no ferry, stay on land, drive all the way through (cheaper).
It's a plus if you have camping experience and don't mind doing some. It's a good way to bring down the cost and ease traveling in the remote mountains and national parks. But I don't insist on doing it.
If you prefer, I'll be glad to take the cheaper alternative by staying on land and making it a nature drive.
The return flight will be more expensive than round trip flights. But I can cover most of the car cost and driving.
Please reply to my email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com and let's start planning! I live in Berkeley. We'll do everything to make it affordable and fun. BTW this is the best season traveling this part of the earth.
