Subject: Need For Volunteers for Chinese New Year Festival - Saturday,
February 19, 2011
Good Afternoon All,
Thank you so much for your participation in the 2010 Chinese New Year
Festival. It was a huge success and we could not have done it without
all of your hard work and effort.
I am contacting you now because the Birmingham Chinese Festival
Association (BCFA) is in need of volunteers to help host our fifth
annual Chinese New Year Festival. The festival will be held on
Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 11:00am to 4:00pm at the Boutwell
Auditorium. The festival is a joint effort between the City of
Birmingham and the Birmingham Chinese Festival Association. The annual
Chinese New Year Festival is a celebration of Chinese culture and
tradition that showcases Chinese Kongfu, dance acts, musical
performance, food, games, and so much more! More people in Birmingham
and the surrounding areas are becoming aware of this annual event.
From our first year to our fourth, the festival has grown from 2,000
to close to 6,000 attendees.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to serve as a
volunteer once again for the festival this year. In return for your
time, all volunteers will receive a free meal, a commemorative
t-shirt, and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the festival
events. If you or anyone else you may know are interested in
participating as a volunteer, please fill-out the attached volunteer
form and email it back to me at email@example.com . You may
also print out the form and hand return it to me at an upcoming
information meeting to be held in January 2011. More details about
the meeting date and time will be sent out after the new year. All
meetings are held at the Birmingham Public Library (Downtown), 3rd
Floor Meeting Room, 2100 Park Place, Birmingham, AL 35203.
If you are interested in participating in the festival as a vendor
rather than a volunteer, please contact Leda Summer at (205) 531-0457
or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Information about the Birmingham Chinese Festival Association
The Birmingham Chinese Festival Association brings together nine
Chinese-related organizations. Our membership is comprised of
Chinese-Americans, local business persons and other area residents.
Our mission is to bring together our multicultural communities to
celebrate the New Year and to promote business and cultural exchanges
within the city of Birmingham. We believe Birmingham's
Chinese-Americans have much to share and contribute to the culture,
diversity and economic success of the region.
Chinese economic growth has continued in the midst of the global
recession, and global interest in the country and its culture is
continuing to expand. Alabama Governor Bob Riley's visits to China
have helped to foster good community relations and inspire vision for
how we can work together locally to position the state in the
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thank you
