That year I was twenty-one, the golden times of my years. I had many wild hopes, to love, to eat, and to become the a cloud in the sky in the flash of a moment, half dim and half light.
——Wang Xiaobo, Golden Times
Swift breezes from the orient carry the first scents of spring, melting the wintery chills away. As the Chinese ancients would tell you, spring means riches and wine, it means reunion, chasing away the old with the fresh.
We could only be talking about the first month of the lunar calendar. The Year of the Monkey looms upon us, oriental winds blow over our Western surroundings and into our nostalgic hearts. The Kings Chapel rings its timely church chimes as usual, but in our ears we only hear the sounds of childhood firecrackers, the hums of New Year’s Eve gongs, and the laughters on our family dinner table.
What to expect when Chinese New Year meets Cambridge? We think it looks like Beijing opera meeting Western Pop, oriental instruments meeting metal Rock, folk dances meeting Acapella —— on the 6th February 2016, experience the most unique overseas spring festival at the Cambridge Chinese New Year Gala 2016 “Golden Times”.
All-star line-up + classic performances + luxurious prizes + traditional snacks + a fiery atmosphere = Golden Times

Venue: Corn Exchange, Cambridge CB2 3QB
Note: admissions start at 17:30 and end at 19:20, audience members arriving late can only enter once the Gala officially begins
